“Distance Lab” has launched in northern Scotland! This lab was founded by Stefan Agamanolis who ran the “Human Connectedness” research group that I worked in at Media Lab Europe. Distance Lab is “a new research institute whose mission is to invent new technologies and experiences that challenge the way we think about distance and help overcome its disadvantages in learning, health care, relationships, culture and other domains. By tackling questions like those listed earlier, the Lab will aim to be at the international forefront of innovation in digital media and communication technologies.” They are now recruiting for researchers and interns, so if you are interested in working in a really interesting place to experiment with new forms of “distance” related projects, this might be worth applying for!
